Experience changed what “prepared” means.
Jo spent eight years traveling solo and boondocking across the United States, from desert roads to mountain campgrounds. She served as a camp host on public lands, built and rebuilt practical off-grid systems, and learned how preparation and awareness behave when theory meets a real campsite.
She has tested equipment that worked, equipment that did not, and plans that needed changing. That willingness to notice, correct course, and continue is central to Prepper Shops.
Her education in psychology and sociology, marketing background, creative work, photography, writing, and ministry add other lenses, but lived experience remains the foundation.
Prepper Shops grew from those connected worlds: practical independence, clear observation, creative freedom, and the belief that awareness is more useful than fear.

The image belongs here because it holds several parts of Jo’s work at once: the traveler inside the landscape, the photographer observing it, and the reminder that perspective changes what we think we see.
The Jeep was a friend’s. The eye behind the camera, and the habit of noticing, was Jo’s.
